Nami Island Tickets: The Return Ferry Is Included

Nami Island tickets include the boat journey in both directions. Two adults and one eight-year-old pay a regular published total of ₩51,000 for normal-ferry entry and exit. Changing only the inbound trip to a motorboat raises that same family basket to ₩81,000.

The island operator’s admission table and ticket FAQ, checked September 30, 2026, separate the two boat packages. Neither amount is a Seoul-to-island transport quote, and neither purchases every activity on the island.

Start with the round-trip package already in the ticket

The normal-ferry package costs ₩19,000 per adult. Children from 36 months through elementary-school age qualify for the ₩13,000 category. The motorboat-inbound, normal-ferry-outbound package lists ₩29,000 and ₩23,000 for those same travelers.

In the following calculation, both adults use the regular adult category and the child is an elementary-school student. There are no group, early-bird, evening, senior, or other discounts. A three-person family does not meet the posted 20-person threshold for a general group discount.

Admission plus included return boat: two adults and one eight-year-old
Package Two adults Child Family
Normal ferry both ways ₩38,000 ₩13,000 ₩51,000
Motorboat in, normal ferry out ₩58,000 ₩23,000 ₩81,000

Swipe the comparison on small screens. The upgrade is ₩10,000 per paid traveler: (₩29,000 − ₩19,000) × 2 + (₩23,000 − ₩13,000) = ₩30,000. It is not a surcharge for both directions. The published upgraded package still returns by normal ferry.

Under-three admission needs a different calculation

The operator gives free admission to an accompanied child under 36 months and asks visitors to bring documentation for the exemption. Its FAQ limits the stated free-admission benefit to normal-ferry entry and exit. Do not take the eight-year-old basket above, substitute a toddler, and assume the motorboat package will retain a zero child charge.

For two regular-price adults with one accompanied 24-month-old using the normal ferry, the admission basket is 2 × ₩19,000 = ₩38,000, provided the exemption is accepted. Before changing that boat choice, ask the operator how it will ticket the child. This is a real decision boundary, not a rounding difference in a family total.

School-age status and age proof deserve a place in the travel document folder. The posted categories are more specific than a generic “kids ticket.” Use the family members’ actual ages and the operator’s accepted evidence rather than a tour seller’s broad age label.

Spend the extra ₩30,000 only on a journey you want

Our editorial choice would be the standard ferry when the objective is an island visit at the lower verified admission cost. The motorboat upgrade makes sense when the inbound boat experience itself is part of the family’s desired outing. The price table provides no basis for claiming that the upgrade saves a guaranteed number of minutes or avoids every queue.

Keep a separate mainland transport line, then add food and optional rentals only if you intend to buy them. That prevents the same boat fare from appearing twice and prevents a “complete day cost” label from being attached to an admission-only number. If travel involves a longer railway itinerary, the KORAIL Pass comparison uses its own route and seat assumptions.

For another outing with separate ascent and entrance charges, see our N Seoul Tower family basket. For a public-park day, Seoul Zoo’s ride package shows why a free gate alone does not define the bill.
