A Changdeokgung Secret Garden reservation needs its own place in your calendar. The ₩6,000 integrated palace ticket excludes the garden. Online garden tickets open at 10 a.m. Korea time six days before the visit date, excluding the visit day itself.
The Royal Palaces and Tombs Center’s current admission guidance, checked September 30, 2026, also identifies October and November as months when both online and same-day garden tickets sell quickly. Buying a palace pass first cannot reserve a garden place.
For an October 10 visit, set an October 3 U.S. reminder
Here is a calendar example, not a claim that tickets are available: a Saturday, October 10, 2026 garden visit has an online release on Sunday, October 4 at 10 a.m. KST. To convert this Korean release to U.S. clocks, subtract 13 hours for EDT or 16 hours for PDT on those dates.
- Eastern U.S.: Saturday, October 3 at 9 p.m. EDT.
- Pacific U.S.: Saturday, October 3 at 6 p.m. PDT.
- Korea: Sunday, October 4 at 10 a.m. KST.
Calculation: subtract six calendar days from October 10, then convert that release time to the time zone where you will actually be. A traveler still in the U.S. has an evening reminder on the preceding date. A traveler already in Seoul uses the Korean morning. Later dates around U.S. daylight-saving changes need a fresh conversion.
The official window continues through the day before the visit, subject to stock. Same-day tickets are sold from 9 a.m. on a first-come basis. Neither window guarantees a particular tour language or departure. Check the reservation page’s offered session before attaching the rest of your itinerary to it.
The child’s garden price differs from palace entry
For the garden, the posted age bands are ₩5,000 for ages 19 and older, ₩2,500 for ages 7–18, and free admission for children six and younger. Palace-building admission is separate and required for a garden visit. Foreign visitors 18 and younger have free ordinary palace admission under the authority’s general rules; the garden has its own narrower exemption.
A worked family example uses two foreign adults aged 35 and one child aged 10. Ordinary Changdeokgung palace admission is 2 × ₩3,000 = ₩6,000. Garden admission is 2 × ₩5,000 + ₩2,500 = ₩12,500. The combined amount is ₩18,500, without transport or other purchases. A child free at the palace gate therefore still contributes ₩2,500 to this garden basket.
Already holding a valid integrated palace ticket changes the palace-payment line, not the garden booking requirement. Our palace-pass calculation explains when the broader ticket makes sense. Do not purchase another ordinary palace ticket automatically if your valid pass already supplies that admission.
Build the day around the confirmed session
K-Trend’s planning judgment is to reserve the scarce garden session before committing to an inflexible nearby activity. A confirmed time is useful evidence; a broad palace opening window is not an interchangeable substitute. Save the booking confirmation, verify the meeting instructions and required documents, then allow room for reaching that meeting point.
When the desired session is unavailable, keep the ordinary palace visit as a separate option instead of calling it a garden replacement. Families who prefer a flexible indoor stop can compare the National Museum’s separate children’s reservation. Budget movement with the subway restroom re-entry clock if an intermediate exit is involved.
For autumn dates, this sequence remains useful while the authority retains the six-day release rule. A revised release window, seasonal tour schedule, or closure notice changes the plan; the live booking calendar has the final availability.
Official basis: admission prices, garden exclusion, reservation release and age exemptions. Checked September 30, 2026. Time-zone conversions and the three-person basket are K-Trend calculations.
