OLIVE YOUNG has officially landed inside Sephora in the United States—but this is a curated K-beauty edit, not a miniature copy of the retailer’s famously packed Korean stores. The launch began August 20 with 19 brands, a dedicated Times Square presentation, online shopping at Sephora.com, and distribution across hundreds of U.S. stores. Here is what is actually included, what can vary by location, and when a full OLIVE YOUNG store is still the better trip.
What launched on August 20
Sephora’s August 4 announcement described the rollout plainly: 19 brands selected by OLIVE YOUNG in partnership with Sephora would arrive in more than 500 Sephora stores nationwide and on Sephora.com beginning August 20. The companies said the brands were chosen for their performance, popularity, and trend leadership in Korea. That is the retailers’ selection rationale, not an independent guarantee that every formula will suit every shopper.
The New York centerpiece is a dedicated OLIVE YOUNG K-Beauty Edit at Sephora’s Times Square flagship. CJ’s post-launch article says that presentation covers 33 square meters, or roughly 355 square feet. Most locations will not reproduce that scale. Sephora’s own footnote says curation may vary with the available floor space and whether a brand is offered only online.
You may also see two different national store counts. Sephora announced 500-plus stores before the launch; CJ wrote on August 27 that the edit had debuted across 580-plus locations. Neither announcement explains the difference. The careful reading is that 500-plus was the original launch floor and 580-plus was CJ’s later count—not that every one of those stores carries the same 19-brand shelf.

All 19 brands in the official launch lineup
This is the complete alphabetical list in Sephora’s August 4 release. It is a brand roster, not a promise that every product from every brand will be stocked. Check the live edit page and select your local store before making a special trip.

The names are the useful starting point. They are not a substitute for reading the exact product page: size, ingredient list, directions, and stock status matter more than a “popular in Korea” label once a product reaches your cart.
Why this is not a full OLIVE YOUNG store
Think of the Sephora partnership as a focused discovery shelf with national reach. A full OLIVE YOUNG store is a multi-category retailer built for deeper comparison. CJ describes its physical stores as places to browse a wider spectrum of brands, compare formulas, test products, and build routines; it describes Sephora as the broader-distribution route for a narrower selection.
That difference is visible in California. The standalone Pasadena store opened May 29 at 58 W. Colorado Boulevard. CJ says the 8,647-square-foot location spans skincare, makeup, hair care, wellness, and lifestyle, with product-testing areas and services such as skin and scalp analysis. A second standalone store now operates at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles. Those stores are OLIVE YOUNG retail destinations. The green-branded area at Sephora remains a Sephora department, with Sephora’s checkout, loyalty system, returns process, and locally allocated inventory.
The simple distinction: Sephora gives far more Americans a convenient way to sample the edit; Pasadena and Century City offer the fuller OLIVE YOUNG format.
There is also a separate OLIVE YOUNG U.S. online store. Do not assume its catalog, promotions, membership rewards, prices, or stock will match Sephora’s. They are separate storefronts even when a brand appears on both.
That split creates a smart retail funnel. Sephora is the low-friction first encounter; a full OLIVE YOUNG store or site is the deeper second step. Our concern is that a tightly edited shelf can make a wonderfully diverse category look more uniform than it is. The best use of the partnership is discovery—then comparison—not outsourcing every skincare decision to the green sign.
How to shop the edit without guessing
- Set your store first. On Sephora.com, choose the location you plan to visit and check the item’s pickup or in-store status. A national launch does not mean every shelf has every brand.
- Match the exact item, not just the brand. Compare the full product name, size, ingredient list, and directions. Packaging can look similar across a line, while the formula or intended use differs.
- Shop by your actual need. Start with a practical category—cleanser, moisturizer, treatment, or mask—and a concern you can describe. “Trending in Korea” is useful discovery context, not a skin diagnosis.
- Introduce one new product at a time. Patch-test when appropriate and follow the label. Adding several unfamiliar actives at once makes irritation harder to trace.
- Compare final value. Check the same size across Sephora, OLIVE YOUNG U.S., and the brand’s authorized U.S. channel. Include shipping, rewards, gifts, and return terms instead of comparing one promotional price in isolation.
- Verify claims on the product page. A retail badge, bestseller label, or social-media clip does not establish that a product treats a medical condition. For persistent irritation or a diagnosed condition, use professional medical guidance.
- Recheck before traveling. If your goal is one particular brand, call the store or confirm pickup availability shortly before leaving. Inventory can change after an online check.
Who gets the most from the Sephora version?
The edit makes the most sense for shoppers who want to see textures in person, use an existing Beauty Insider account, collect an online order locally, or return an unsuitable item through a familiar U.S. retailer. It also lowers the discovery barrier for brands that previously required a specialized K-beauty shop or an international order.
It is less complete for someone trying to recreate an OLIVE YOUNG shopping trip in Seoul. Nineteen brands are meaningful, but Korea’s stores carry far more brands, categories, and fast-changing promotions. Even the two U.S. standalone locations are localized stores, not guaranteed copies of a Korean branch. “Curated by OLIVE YOUNG” should therefore be read literally: this is a selected window into the retailer’s taste, not its entire catalog.
The practical verdict
The partnership is a real expansion, not a one-week pop-up: the edit is live online and distributed nationally, with a larger dedicated presentation in Times Square. Its value is convenience and curation. Its limit is depth—and, potentially, the false confidence that someone else has already done all the choosing for you. We see the edit as a very good doorway, not a verdict. Start with the official 19-brand roster, verify the exact item at your chosen store, and compare the two retailers before checking out.
